The National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) would like to give you the opportunity to nominate your state agency for the Fifth Annual NASCLA Innovation in Regulation Award.

As you know, NASCLA holds an Annual Conference every fall which provides our members with the opportunity to come together to discuss issues relevant to the regulation of the construction industry. This year’s conference will be held on August 22-25, 2010 in South Carolina, the home state of our President, John Curl.

The NASCLA Innovation in Regulation Award recognizes a state licensing agency for their innovation, creativity and excellence in the regulation of the contracting/construction industry.

Past winners of this prestigious award include the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC). The CSLB won this award in 2009 for creating an innovative methodology for identifying and prosecuting illegal multi-state contracting operations. The operation was specific to the service and repair industry, and included partnerships with multiple government agencies in order to gain the desired justice. The ROC won this award in 2008 for its focus on improving communication through technology. The ROC collaborated with the Google Corporation to make public
databases searchable by commercial search engines.

At this year’s conference, NASCLA will be presenting the 2010 Innovation in Regulation Award winner at the Conference Awards Banquet Luncheon on Wednesday, August 25, 2010.

NASCLA and its many members are looking forward to another successful and memorable event. I encourage you to submit a nomination form for this year’s Innovation in Regulation Award.
